The health and wellness fair at Takin’ it to the Streets is taking a community-based approach to health. Our personal health and well-being isn’t just impacted by the personal decisions we make, but by the communities that we live in and the world that we engage in. This year’s fair was organized in collaboration with the American Muslim Health Professionals (AMHP), a national non-profit focused on improving public health. IMAN and AMHP have worked to pull from the local community’s resources to develop a comprehensive health and wellness fair filled with informative presentations, engaging activities and displays, interactive cooking demonstrations, and free health screenings (provided by the Compassionate Care Network and the Walgreen’s Wellness Tour), all in ONE central location.
At the fair, you’ll learn about preventive health and nutrition, chronic illnesses like diabetes and obesity, holistic medicine, health reform and much more. Come with a curious mind and leave empowered to address your personal health, the health of our communities and the health of our nation. There will also be a blood drive and a vaccination station.
