Basketball Tournament

March Madness isn’t over yet! Come to Streets and hoop in the 3-on-3 basketball tournament running throughout the day. Bring your friends, family, and fans – everybody’s welcome to watch the games.

Rules

  1. Registration: Teams must have pre-registered online or registered before the tournament the day of the event.
  2. Tournament Format: This is a double elimination tournament.  Every team is guaranteed (2) two games. From the final four round and forward the tournament will be single elimination.
  3. Games: Each game will be a 3 on 3 – half-court game. Each game will be up to 11 points by 1’s.  The Championship Game will be to 15 by 1’s.
  4. Rules: IHSA rules apply with the addition to these specific 3 on 3 rules. Players must clear the ball after every possession.  Players will call their own calls. (fouls, out of bounds, etc.) The scorekeeper/timekeeper will intervene on disputes.  The final four games, and championship will have referees.
  5. Clock: There shall be a 20-minute running clock for each game. The championship game will be a 30-minute running clock game.
  6. Overtime: In case of a tie, a next point wins overtime period will be played with a do or die shot before the overtime to decide who gets the ball first in the overtime.
  7. Time Outs: Each team is allowed one (1) minute time-outs per game. It will be a 1-minute time-out.  Injury time-outs will not be charged against a team (scorekeepers discretion)
  8. Forfeits: Teams must be present 10 minutes before their game.  A team cannot start a game unless at least 3 players are present. Game time is forfeiture time. If a team cannot field 3 players, then they will forfeit the game.
  9. Players: Rosters must be submitted with the team’s registration prior to the tourney.  4 players maximum per team. All players must sign a waiver prior to the tourney
  10. Bench: ONLY the players may be seated in the bench area. All others must be seated in the stands or away from the bench. This isn’t negotiable and will be strictly enforced. If the rule is violated technical fouls will be assessed to the team in violation until the issue is resolved. Teams have one minute to clear non-coaches and players off their bench before another technical is issued.
  11. Player Ejection or Unsportsmanlike: Any player who is ejected from a game (before, during or after the game) will be required to sit out the next game unless the league supervisor feels more severe action should be taken. Please be aware that striking at a player, official or any other participant or spectator automatically results in ejection from the remainder of the tournament and possibly future tournaments. This is a policy that the committee is looking to enforce very adamantly. The tournament is a reflection of its players and organizers. Referees will be instructed to discipline players or teams that do not reflect the behavior expected by the tournament committee. Penalties include an initial verbal warning by the official, technical fouls assessed by the official, and ejection from the game by the official. If a player has been ejected from a game they will be required to sit out the next game. If a player has been ejected from a game the tournament committee will discuss whether or not the individual should be suspended for the remainder of the tournament. There will be no tolerance for unsportsmanlike conduct.
