Streets 2010 and IMAN partner with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Millennium Park to bring you a special concert in Millennium Park, funded by the Chicago Community Trust.

Tinariwen returns to Chicago with their edgy, soulful sound that continues to make waves in the American and European rock scene. Their unique desert blues style and profound lyrics make them a unique and relevant voice from the Muslim world. Beginning the evening’s musical celebration is Omar Faruk Tekbilek, a Turkish virtuoso flautist. Rooted in tradition and influenced by contemporary sounds, Omar is known for his ability to brilliantly interpret the Sufi, folk, and present-day music of the Middle East. Both artists will also perform at Takin’ It to the Streets on June 19th in Marquette Park.

Included in the night’s line-up is a special awards ceremony for the winner’s of the One Chicago, One Nation film contest.
