About Marquette Park
The festival site is the beautifully-landscaped Marquette Park. At 323 acres, it is the largest park on the southwest side of Chicago. Recognized for its expansive facilities and distinctive location, the park is perhaps best known for its historic value to the civil rights struggle. The seeds of racial equity were planted in its soil when, in 1966, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. joined the Chicago Freedom Movement to lead an historic civil rights march calling for the end to racist housing practices. In the spirit of the struggle for social justice, the people of IMAN hope to carry on the legacy of Marquette Park by making it the home of Takin’ It to the Streets 2010.
The park is located at 6734 S. Kedzie Ave. in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois.
Help us be Green
We strongly suggest riding your bike, carpooling or taking public transportation. All are a lot cooler (and cheaper) than showing up to the festival by yourself in that gas guzzling car of yours.
By Car
Shuttles to and from the park will be provided at designated parking lots within the area. In the spirit of creating cleaner communities, we HIGHLY encourage visitors to use Chicago public transportation.
